About Us
Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha Ltd. was established on 28 February 1956 by Late K. Subbannayya with the vision of strengthening the cooperative movement and supporting the financial needs of farmers, laborers, and the local community. Over the years, the institution has grown into a trusted cooperative organization that plays an important role in improving the economic stability of its members.
In its early years, the Sangha served the villages of Kotekar, Someshwara, Talapady, Kinya, Munnuru, Konaje, and Manjanady, providing financial assistance and cooperative services to local residents. During 1976–77, the Ullala and Permannur Service Co-operative Bank was merged with the Sangha, expanding its service area to ten villages.
As the institution continued to grow, new branches were established to better serve the community. The Thokkottu Branch was opened in 1985, followed by the Deralakatte Branch in 2000 and K.C. Road Branch in 2006. Later, the Sangha expanded its reach to villages including Harekala, Pavoor, Amblamogaru, and Boliyar.
Further expansion led to the establishment of the Gramachavadi Branch in 2011, Kuthar Branch in 2016, and Boliyar Branch in 2018. Today, the Sangha operates multiple branches including the Head Office at Kotekar, serving thousands of members across the region.
The institution offers a wide range of financial services including Savings Accounts, Recurring Deposits, Fixed Deposits, Agricultural Loans, Gold Loans, Vehicle Loans, and Mortgage Loans. In addition to banking services, the Sangha also provides NEFT/RTGS transactions, E-Stamping services, fertilizers, pesticides, and ration store facilities to support farmers and the local community.
With a strong commitment to cooperation, transparency, and community development, Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha Ltd. continues to empower its members and contribute to the economic growth and self-reliance of the region.

Serving Farmers & Communities for Nearly 70 Years • Dakshina Kannada
A Legacy of Trust & Service
Established in 1956, Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha has grown into one of the strongest cooperative institutions in Dakshina Kannada over nearly seven decades of dedicated service.
The society handles an annual business turnover of ₹1000+ crores, collects public deposits exceeding ₹200 crores, and provides loans of more than ₹150 crores. Over 1000 farmers have received agricultural loans worth ₹30+ crores at 0% and 3% interest.
While functioning as a banking institution, the society's primary goal extends beyond profit — it is committed to uplifting farmers and the broader community.
Special Contributions to Agriculture
Although primarily a financial cooperative, the Sangha has extended its reach into agriculture — supporting farmers through subsidies, training, and on-ground initiatives that make a tangible difference.
Agricultural Support Programs
Encouragement for Paddy Cultivation
With farmers moving away from paddy due to labour shortages and lower profits, the society launched an incentive program in 2022. Farmers in the coastal region are now resuming paddy farming, securing the local staple food supply.
Paddy on Unused Land
The society identifies unused lands and brings them under paddy cultivation. In Someshwara village (Pilar area), about 5 acres were cultivated with help from local college students — inaugurated by Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Shri U.T. Khader.
Support for Arecanut Farmers
Arecanut is the lifeline for many families in Dakshina Kannada. Climate change and crop diseases cause heavy losses annually. For the past 3 years the society has provided subsidised fungicides to help farmers protect their crops.
Training Programs for Farmers
The society organises hands-on training camps to introduce farmers to modern agricultural practices, government schemes, and new livelihood opportunities — empowering them to farm smarter and earn better.
2025
Horticulture & Government Schemes
Awareness program on horticulture crops and available government support schemes.
2025
Profitable Farming & Beekeeping
Practical training on diversified income through sustainable farming and beekeeping.
2025
Jackfruit Value Addition
Training on processing jackfruit into high-value products to boost farmer incomes.
3-Day Jackfruit Festival
To promote the incredible variety of products that can be made from jackfruit, the Sangha organised a vibrant 3-day Jackfruit Festival jointly with the Ullal Taluk Journalists Association and Media Centre.
The festival showcased different jackfruit varieties, finished products, and processing methods — giving jackfruit farmers market exposure and new opportunities to grow their income.
Community Contributions
Contribution to Education
For the past 5 years, the society adopts one government primary school annually, providing all necessary learning materials. Top SSLC scorers are also honoured with cash incentives every year — inspiring students to excel.
COVID-19 — Doorstep Banking
During the lockdown, the society introduced "Doorstep Banking" — a first-of-its-kind initiative ensuring no one was left behind when movement was restricted.
- Banking services delivered directly to customers' homes
- Essential groceries & supplies provided to COVID-affected families
- Financial assistance given to families of members who passed away due to COVID
